Create Animated Video Backgrounds with BCC 5 AE and Adobe Premiere Pro CS3

6. Make sure you are on the first frame of the clip. Adjust the following parameters by entering these values (or you can use your own):

  • Sample Count = 100 (the higher this value is, the smoother the effect)
  • Starting Depth = 0.52 (sets the start point for rotation along the Z axis)
  • Ending Depth = 5.45 (sets the end point for rotation along the Z axis)
  • Rotation Center = 234.3 (for X axis) -166.7 (for Y axis)
  • Starting Angle = 112 (sets the counter clockwise angle for the image spin)
  • Ending Angle = 51 (sets the clockwise angle for the image spin)
  • Outside Pattern = No (no pattern assigned to the outside area of the image)

What to animate?

All of the BCC Prism controls are animatable and it is entirely up to you what gets keyframed and what remains static. That's the whole fun of using this filter experiment as you go because the looks will change drastically depending on what you dial in. For this tutorial, I chose to animate the Starting Angle and Ending Angle only.

7. While still on the first frame, insert a keyframe for the Starting Angle and Ending Angle controls by clicking on the toggle animation icon next to those parameters (do not change the values we entered in before).

8. Advance to the last frame of the clip and set another keyframe for each by entering these values (or you can use your own):

  • Starting Angle = 180
  • Ending Angle = -20

Render your sequence and feel free to add text, pictures whatever your project requires. If you just can't wait to see the end result with text, I have rendered a clip here for you to download and preview.
