Installation

Boris FX provides a wide variety of vfx products across multiple professional video editing platforms.

Before you install, please verify that your editing/motion graphics platform is compatible with the products you have purchased. Click here for a list of compatible platforms.

If your system is not compatible, please email customerservice@borisfx.com and a member of the team will assist you.

Activation/Deactivation

There are two activation methods for Boris FX products: Serial Number Activation; or UPID (Unique Product ID) Activation.

SERIAL NUMBER

Serial number activation allows our customers to easily activate or transfer Boris FX products between systems and reactivate products after major software updates. It also allows for hassle-free reactivation if any system problems occur.

To activate your Boris FX products by serial number:

Step 1. Install the trial product via download or disc.
Step 2. Apply a Boris FX filter within your project timeline. (You will then see a register option in the effects window.)
Step 3. Click the registration button to open the registration window and activate/deactivate your license using the serial number provided.

To transfer a Boris FX product to another system, simply deactivate your product in the same registration window on your current system, uninstall the product, reinstall on the new system, and use the original serial number provided by Boris FX to activate.

Continuum Units

The Continuum Units family of vfx plug-ins lets you choose specific toolsets from the award-winning Continuum Complete plug-in suite. To activate Unit products, enter the serial number provided on your invoice in the Boris FX registration window. Internet access is not required for Unit activation; therefore, UPID activation is not available for Units.

UPID (Unique Product ID)

Some Boris FX products may still require a UPID as opposed to a serial number. In addition, for customers who cannot connect to the internet on their editing systems, we offer UPID activation for all Boris FX products - except for Continuum Units which do not require Internet activation.

To activate your Boris FX products by UPID:

Step 1. Install the trial product via download or disc.
Step 2. Apply a Boris FX filter within your project timeline. (You will then see a register option in the effects window.)
Step 3. Click the checkbox to open the registration window.
Step 4. Submit your UPID (found in the registration window) to customer service or call 857-488-3572

Customer service will provide you with an Unlock Code, which is non-transferable between computers. Enter the Unlock Code in the registration window and press "unlock" to activate your product.

If you aren't connected to the internet, enter your UPID and registered email address to retrieve your unlock codes.

• How do I transfer my Boris FX products to another computer?

Serial number activation:

Step 1. Open the Boris FX registration window, and hit "Deactivate."
Step 2. Uninstall the product.
Step 3. Reinstall the product on your new system.
Step 4. Enter the serial number in the registration window.
Step 5. Click "Verify" and then "Activate".

Step 1. Contact customerservice@borisfx.com or call 857-488-3572 with your UPID #
Step 2. Once your UPID has been processed, you will be sent an Unlock code.
Step 3. Open the registration window and enter the Unlock Code. Click "unlock."

• My hard drive crashed...How do I re-activate my serial number?

Serial number activation:

Simply contact Boris FX Customer Service - customerservice@borisfx.com or 857-488-3572. A team member will verify your purchase and help you reactivate your license remotely!

UPID activation:

Submit your UPID to Boris FX Customer Service - customerservice@borisfx.com or 857-488-3572. Your UPID will be verified, processed, and an unlock code will be provided for activation.

• I want to use a serial number to activate, but when I try to unlock my product I receive the message "activation failed." What do I do?

I want to use a serial number to activate, but when I try to unlock my product I receive the message "activation failed." What do I do?

Step 1. Make sure you click "Verify" before you click "Activate" in the registration window or the message "activation failed" will appear.
Step 2. If you have a firewall set up, you may not be able to connect to the Boris FX server resulting in the "activation failed" message. You may want to modify your firewall to allow your system to contact our server or, as an alternative, use UPID activation.
