When I try to import an EPS image into Boris RED, Boris Graffiti or Boris BLUE, I can see the EPS image, but it's over a black background. What do I do?
The easiest solution to this problem would be to delete the black background of the EPS by removing that part of the image.
First, import the EPS file, and then in the Composition/timeline window, there should be a 'Path' sub-layer for the EPS file, with an orange, square 'EPS' button. Click on that 'EPS' button and select "Spline Object"; the view should change to a bunch of splines of the EPS image and the Tool window should open up. Select the hollow-arrow (not the solid arrow) and click on the black background. The black background's spline-points should highlight. Press Delete and this should get rid of the EPS's black background.
My Title 3D suddenly stopped working in Apple Final Cut Pro 6.0. What can I do? Do I need to reinstall Final Cut Pro?
Delete the preferences for the Title 3D Application. The preference file is named "com.borisfx.Title 3D". It is located at: Macintosh HD :: Users :: <Current User> :: Library :: Preferences
If this does not help, download the Calligraphy files, remove your current install of Title 3D from its current location, take the Title 3D bundle file from this download, and put it in its place.
As for Title 3D's install location, your Title 3D should be located here: Macintosh HD :: Library :: Application Support :: Final Cut Pro System Support :: Plugins
My Boris FX/Graffiti/RED plug-in is installed into Premiere Pro, but when I attempt to launch the plug-in, Premiere Pro crashes. The Boris product launches fine in standalone mode from the Start menu.
This problem is usually associated with the OpenGL resources of your graphics card. To rectify the problem, close Adobe Premiere Pro, go into your C:\WINDOWS folder, and delete your Boris preference file. If your Windows is set to view extensions for known file types (accessible under Tools>Folder Options in the View tab), then you should find a file with an .ini extension to match your installed Boris product...
• Boris RED: 'BorisRED4.1.ini', 'BorisRED4.2.ini' or 'BorisRED4.3.ini'
• Boris FX: 'BorisFX9.1.ini', 'BorisFX9.2.ini' or 'BorisFX9.3.ini'
• Boris Graffiti: 'Graffiti5.1.ini', 'Graffiti5.2.ini' or 'Graffiti5.3.ini'
Delete this file. Next, go here and download the 'OpenGL Off .ini' file for your Boris product. Download and Unzip the file and upload the file into the C:\WINDOWS folder where the old .ini file was.
Important Note: A large number of Boris FX 9.1, Graffiti 5.1 and RED 4.1 discs have been shipped. Because of this, the .ini files on the website are for Boris FX 9.1, Graffiti 5.1 and RED 4.1. If you are using a later version of the Boris software, you will need to rename this .ini file to match the current version you are running. For example, if you're running Boris RED 4.3, rename the file from 'BorisRED4.1.ini‘ to 'BorisRED4.3.ini'.
I'm installing Boris Continuum Complete 5 AE from the installation DVD, but it does not show up in my filter selection in Adobe After Effects CS3. I'm running a Mac.
There are two ways to approaching a solution to this problem: one primary solution and one secondary solution in case the primary solution fails.
The primary suggestion would be to download and run the BCC AE 5.0.1.50 Update. This update installs a single version higher than that which the Boris Install DVD installs, and the update is specifically catered towards customers who would like to use BCC 5 in CS3 on the Mac - particularly on OS 10.5/Leopard. The update runs in a form identical to that of the DVD installer, so instructing the update to install into After Effects CS3 is simple. Note that it is strongly recommended that you insert and mount the Boris Install DVD before running the update to assure the update patch sees and acknowledges the valid BCC AE license.
The secondary suggestion is based off the fact that After Effects CS3, unlike previous After Effects versions, has two different folders in which it can read third-party plug-ins. What we want to do is find which folder the BCC AE plug-ins are installed into and move them into the other folder. Most likely the plug-ins are installed into this location: Macintosh HD :: Library :: Application Support :: Adobe :: Plug-Ins :: Common :: CS3 :: MediaCore. The other folder is located here: Macintosh HD :: Applications :: Adobe After Effects CS3 :: Plug-Ins. If you find the plug-ins, after they've been upgraded to version 5.0.1.50, in one folder, take them out and re-locate them into the other folder. Do not copy them into the new location, however, as that may cause a duplicate-filter error message for each of the BCC effects while After Effects is launching. It would be better to move them.
