In this video tutorial, we show you the basics of using Boris Continuum Complete's Extruded Text filter in Avid Media Composer 4. BCC Extruded Text belongs to the 3D Objects category of filters, which is new to BCC 6. These stunning OpenGL-based filters use vertex and pixel shaders that enable the generation of animated 3D shatter, bulge, bend, taper, twist, ripple, and wave effects. You can also create reflection or texture maps for the generated 3D text from any image or video clip on the Avid timeline. Boris Continuum Complete AVX for Avid DS's Lens Blur filter emulates a real-world defocused lens effect where the out-of-focus highlights of an image clip take on the shape of the blades that control the size of the lens diaphragm. In this video tutorial, we use the BCC Lens Blur filter to create a rack focus effect, which is where the camera operator moves the shot gradually out of focus by turning the focus ring on the camera lens.

The BCC Optical Stabilizer filter enables you to stabilize shaky video footage. The filter uses optical flow technology to determine the movement of the camera and then adjusts the clip's position to compensate. Depending upon filter parameter settings, the motion in the clip will either be smoothed or completely locked down. Unlike many other image stabilization tools, the BCC Optical Stabilizer does not require you to set user-defined tracking points. This is useful for images where tracking data is unreliable.
Because the very nature of post camera image stabilization causes the image to be cropped, BCC Optical Stabilizer includes post image stabilization options to fill the blank areas around the frame - such as repeating pixels along the cropped edges, mirroring the image along those edges, filling them with solid color, or leaving them transparent. An auto-scale function automatically transform scales the image so that it fills the frame across time; it includes seven transform scale algorithms ensuring optimal post image sharpness.
