The Boris Continuum 3D Objects Unit includes five powerful 3D Extrusion filters for After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Motion, and Final Cut Express . The Extruded Text filter allows you to create stunning 3D text elements. Extruded EPS provides an easy way to import and extrude Adobe Illustrator layered vector logos and graphics. Type-on Text lets you create animated text type-ons that fly in from behind or toward the camera or slide into view from the top, left, bottom, or right of the screen either letter-by-letter, word-by-word, or line-by-line. Extruded Spline generates and extrudes shapes. Layer Deformer generates useful 3D shapes such as planes, cubes, spheres, and cylinders and deforms these 3D objects using built-in vertex and pixel shaders.

This Old House Nails Show Packaging and Promos with BCC 6 AE

This Old House TV was awarded an Emmy for its New Orleans Project episode, which featured the rebuilding of an 1892 Creole-style shotgun home located in Lower Ninth Ward that was badly damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Throughout its 30-year history, This Old House has earned a grand total of 17 Emmy Awards and garnered an impressive 82 nominations. The production crew traveled from Massachusetts to New Orleans to capture this story and other stories of the city's revival.

Michael Svirsky, Post Production Supervisor in their Concord, MA facility, is often tasked with creation of packaging and show promos on short notice. When the news of an award came in, he had to act fast. An animated bug with the Emmy logo and This Old House brand had to be created in time for the next episode.

White Paper: Real-Time Chroma Keying

This new white paper presents a method to efficiently compute a Chroma Key effect utilizing the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) available in most modern computers. The method is implemented in the Boris Continuum Complete 6 FxPlug Chromakey Studio plug-in for Apple Final Cut Pro, Apple Final Cut Express, and Apple Motion under Apple's FxPlug plug-in architecture. The process consists of four separate image-processing algorithms: a chroma key matte computation, a spill suppressor, a matte choker, and a light wrap filter. Rather than executing the four filters sequentially, as would be appropriate on the CPU, the method reorganizes the flow of execution to maximize parallel processing and memory throughput, thereby taking full advantage of the parallel nature of GPU hardware. The method optimizes GPU throughput by performing image-processing tasks in parallel and minimizing texture lookup and global memory access.

Create a Rack Focus Effect in Avid DS

Boris Continuum Complete AVX for Avid DS's Lens Blur filter emulates a real-world defocused lens effect where the out-of-focus highlights of an image clip take on the shape of the blades that control the size of the lens diaphragm. In this video tutorial, we use the BCC Lens Blur filter to create a rack focus effect, which is where the camera operator moves the shot gradually out of focus by turning the focus ring on the camera lens.
