Hundreds of thousands of Apple Final Cut Pro, Motion, and Final Cut Express customers rely on our VFX and workflow tools. We fully intend to support Apple Final Cut Pro X to the maximum extent possible.
VFX and Compositing Plug-Ins
We are in the process of porting Boris Continuum Complete FxPlug, the Boris Continuum Units, Final Effects Complete FxPlug, Boris RED, Boris FX, and Boris Graffiti to Apple’s FxPlug 2 plug-in architecture.
The FxPlug 2 plug-in architecture was introduced with the release of Apple Motion v5. With FxPlug 2, all FxPlug plug-ins will run either directly in Motion or as part of a Motion Effect running inside of Apple Final Cut Pro X. Final Cut Pro X users will be able to access Boris Continuum Complete, Final Effects Complete, Boris RED, Boris FX, and Boris Graffiti presets and pre-built looks with a streamlined set of parameters. Advanced Final Cut Pro X users who need more control will be able to either open and edit these effects in Motion or create their own Boris-based effects within Motion for their specific task.
Customers who buy Boris Continuum Complete FxPlug, a Continuum Unit, Final Effects Complete FxPlug, Boris RED, Boris FX, or Boris Graffiti as of June 21, 2011 will be eligible to receive a free upgrade to an FxPlug 2-compatible version of the plug-in upon its release. Our first scheduled FxPlug 2 release will be a new version of Boris Continuum Complete FxPlug. The estimated timeframe for this release is the second quarter of 2012. Other FxPlug 2 releases will follow.
Workflow Tools
Boris Transfer FCP is a set of two Final Cut Pro plug-ins for transferring sequences between Final Cut Pro and Avid video editing and finishing systems. One of the plug-ins exports Avid-compatible AAF format files from Final Cut Pro to Avid. The other plug-in imports AAF format files from Avid to Final Cut Pro. As of this writing, Final Cut Pro X does not offer the ability to import or export AAF files. We are actively evaluating Final Cut Pro X and we are strongly committed to facilitating transfer of program sequences and Boris Continuum Complete effects between industry-leading video editing software applications. Boris Transfer FCP remains compatible with Final Cut Pro v7 and v6.
Boris Transfer AE is an Adobe After Effects plug-in designed for seamless transfer of Avid Media Composer and Apple Final Cut Pro program sequences to After Effects. The transfer of Final Cut Pro sequences to After Effects is accomplished via export of XML format files from Final Cut Pro. As of this writing, Final Cut Pro X does not support export of XML format files. We are actively evaluating Final Cut Pro X and we are strongly committed to facilitating transfer of program sequences and Boris Continuum Complete effects from industry-leading video editing software applications to After Effects. Boris Transfer AE remains compatible with Final Cut Pro v7 and v6.
